Replicate and replace 1,259 85-year-old windows in an old RJ
Reynolds warehouse building that is being renovated for use as
a research center.

LEED® Certification

Replicate and replace more than 1,200 windows from the 1920s, including 50 different sizes averaging 4 feet wide by more than 10 feet tall, with new energy efficient aluminum windows featuring high-performance insulated glass in a highly compressed timeline with National Park Service approvals.

The original windows were built with steel and single panes of glass. Charlotte glass was able to deliver and install aluminum replications using state-of-the-art thermal technology within the project’s short timeline.

While the building’s condition added to the challenge, Charlotte Glass worked with the construction manager’s field staff to resolve all issues expeditiously while achieving the goal of LEED® Platinum certification.
